Big Bores Deliver Power to Houston
In April 2018, Auger Services worked on the 68-mile double circuit 345 kV transmission line between the Limestone Substation in Limestone County and the Gibbons Creek Substation in Grimes County near Houston, Texas. This project was commissioned in 2016 after the Electric Reliability Council of Texas identified faulty reliability and overload on the transmission grid.
“The Limestone to Gibbons Creek project was delivered safely, ahead of schedule, and within budget as result of contributions and cooperation of hundreds of people”, said Paul Thessen, president of Cross Texas Transmission. Auger Services provided foundation drilling services for the installation of the upgraded 345kV transmission structures.
